AltEnergy was founded to play an active role in the emergence and growth of the alternative energy industry. We since have expanded our focus to include the agriculture industry due to the inherent similarities and crossover investment opportunities. We make both principal investments in and serve as advisors to companies in these sectors.
Our principals have been actively sourcing and managing investments in the alternative energy and agricultural sectors for more than ten years. In alternative energy, we have made investments in biofuels, smart grid technology, solar energy, transmission development and wind energy. In agriculture, we have made investments in farm land, crop cultivation, livestock production and other value added businesses.
Key themes driving opportunities include:
- Demand outstripping supply from existing resources;
- Fragmented and untapped sectors and geographic markets positioned to experience significant growth and consolidation;
- Technology becoming more cost competitive; and
- Ability to implement best practices across industries and geographies to insure optimal execution.
Additionally, from time to time we will make opportunistic investments in management teams and ideas outside of the energy and agricultural sectors that we believe represent significant opportunities.
