Hawkeye Renewables is former portfolio company that was founded in 2003 by members of the AltEnergy team. It grew from a single 50 million gallon per year plant in 2004 to a 210 million gallon per year ethanol production company with two additional plants under development. In June 2006, the Company was sold to a leading private equity group and at the time was the third largest ethanol producer in the United States. The company's four plants, producing 450 million gallons of ethanol annually, have subsequently traded hands and now are controlled by Koch Industries.
